About Us

Carambolim is a village in Ilhas, Carambolim is also known as Karmali – THE ISLE OF PADDY.

Carambolim is a beautiful village that lies 14kms from Panajim and 2 kms from Old Goa. It is also known as Karmali and is famous Carambolim Lake “Karmallem Tallem”.

The people in Carambolim are very hardworking. There is a lake situated here in the village. It was a man made fresh water fresh water lake which was built to facilitate irrigation of paddy fields. It was named as the ‘Karmallem Tallem’ and is also known as the Carambolim Lake.

In the village, the Carambolim Lake is situated within the walking distance from the Karmali Railway Station. Its surface is sprinkled with water lilies and colourful exotic plants. It is the famous bird watching spot in Goa. The marshy land soon made it a heaven for various species of herbivorous birds, some of whom are resident and others are migratory.

It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of the launch of the Carambolim Village Panchayat website, which was envisioned and created in the past few months by a dedicated team of volunteers. This is a very important step towards transparency, good governance and public participation, some of our most important goals.

I hope that this website will grow in content and utilization and help the residents of our village to access information, communicate and participate in the governance of our precious village.
